Alberti Honored With Trophy

Henry Alberti, who in partnership with his brother, Emil, operate the Bertiview dairy farm east of Los Banos, was guest of honor at the Rotary Club luncheon Tuesday, where he was presented with the Rotary Club's perpetual trophy for the outstanding Young Farmer of Merced county, as represented at the Los Banos Spring Fair and Livestock Show. The Alberti brothers, incidentally, have had possession of the trophy almost continuously since it was first presented by the Rotary Club at the first Spring Fair.

Alberti was also presented with the Western Dairymen's Union trophy for the outstanding Merced county dairy herd at the show. The latter was presented by the union's president, Joe Branco, a former Los Banos boy now operating a dairy ranch in the Dos Palos district.

In presenting the Rotary award Judge D. Oliver Germino, who is secretary of the Merced County Spring Fair board, complimented Alberti and his brother, Emil, on their continuing interest and work on behalf of the local livestock show. He also predicted that Henry Jr., and daughter, Annabelle, would soon be following the footsteps of their father in the effective showing of livestock at the local and other shows.

Germino also paid tribute to Charles W. Bates, Spring Fair manager, stating that his unting energy and effort had been a major contribution to the success of the Fair and for the excellent reputation it holds.

Germino said that plans for the new all-purpose exhibit building are coming along nicely; the $100,000 has already been appropriated for the building, and an additional appropriation of $77,000 is expected to be approved by the State Board of Public Works at the July meeting, this fund is granted, he predicted the new building will be completed and ready for use when the Spring Fair opens next year.
