Basketball Teams To Be Honored
The Los Banos high school basketball teams and coaching staff will be honored at a dinner next Tuesday evening at the Henry Miller school cafeteria. The Lions Club will be hosts to the honorees, with the 20-30 and Rotary clubs as invited guests. The dinner is an annual affair, at which all graduating players of the teams are presented with miniature basketballs as a memento of their high school games.
Carlyle Loftin, past president of the Lions and superintendent of the high school, is chairman of the dinner, with Anthony F. Patricio Jr. as master of ceremonies, and Dominic "Dicie" Paradiso, president of the Lions, assisting.
The dinner has double significance this year, also serving as a fitting tribute to the varsity team, which last week was crowned as champions of the Joaquin league. It was a signal honor for the Tigers as it was the first time the crown has been worn by a southern division team since the old league was divided. The 68 points scored by the team in the final game also set a record for the school.
In addition to the team players, guests will also include the coaches Doug Pederson and Tom Wallace, Joe Coleman who worked as timer, and Bob Williams, who handled the scouting detail.
