Christmas Theatre Parties Planned For Youngsters By Rotary Clubb
Los Banos Rotary Club and the Crest Theatre will entertain an expected 1,500 youngsters at two Christmas theatre parties here next Monday. The parties will be given for all grammar school pupils in the high school district. The first show is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. and the second at 11:45 a.m. Mrs. Frank J. Silva Jr., theatre manager, said each show will be an hour long consisting of colored cartoons and a short subject.
Al Fittje, Rotary chairman, said 1,500 tickets have been distributed through the schools and are divided as evenly as possible so there will be ample seating at each party. The show time is on each ticket, but if a youngster is unable to attend at the time indicated he will be admitted to the other show, provided there is a seat available. Youngsters who may not have received a ticket will also be admitted.
Santa Claus will be at both parties to greet the children and give them candy. A crew of Rotarians will be there to assist him and to help the theatre staff in directing the children.
The doors will open approximately one-half hour prior to each show. The films and the theatre and staff are being provided free of charge through the courtesy of Mrs. Silva.
The theatre parties sponsored by the Rotary Club at the peak of the Christmas season are the outgrowth of the time, a good many years ago, when the organization visited the schools and gave candy to the pupils.
