Mayor John Erreca, who is general chairman of the drive states that the quota this year will be $4,500, the same as last year. This amount will include funds for the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, "Teen-Age Canteen, and Local Relief fund.
The quota was set at a meeting of the Chest committee held Tuesday, at which time permanent Chest Chairman Gilbert S. Elliott reported that expenditures for the several funds during the past year amounted to $4,750.84. Elliott said the remaining balance will probably be used this year for an appropriation to a servicemen's social organization similar to the old U.S.O.
C.W. Bates is secretary of the permanent organization and Jos. A. Enos is treasurer.
A residential solicitation is being planned in connection with the drive, and in the concluding days collection booths will be manned at the banks and post office.
In announcing the drive, Mayor Erreca urged that the people give it their united and immediate support in order that it might be successfully completed as soon as possible.
