Disney Film Stated For Youngsters At Yule Theatre Parties
A good time is in store for children of the Los Banos area at two big Christmas theatre parties next Friday morning and afternoon under the joint auspices of the Los Banos Rotary Club and the Crest Theatre.
This year the two shows will be held at the Crest Theatre instead of the Del Rio as in past years. Tickets will be distributed through the schools to admit 1500 boys and girls. Tickets will be in two colors, with an even division of quantities so that there will be maximum attendance at each show.
The first show is scheduled to start at 10:30 a. m., and the second at 1:30 p. m. Theatre doors will be open one half hour prior to each party.
Tickets will be distributed through the schools to all pupils in the Los Banos and Henry Miller Elementary Schools, the Our Lady of Fatima Parochial School and the Charleston and Volta Elementary Schools.
Walt Disney's popular nature film, "Bear Country" will be the feature film at both shows, plus a number of laugh provoking cartoons. The films and the theatre are being furnished through the courtesy of Crest Theatre, Inc. Mrs. Frank J. (Benny) Silva, Jr., the theatre manager, said the films will be the best ever shown at a Rotary Club Christmas Party.
Santa Claus will be on hand to greet the youngsters at both shows and he will have over 1500 socks of premium quality candy for all who attend. The candy is being provided by the Rotarians.
Committee workers have asked parents to meet their children following both shows. There will be Rotary members to direct the children into the theatre at each party.
Al Fitje heads the committee in charge of arrangements, assisted by Bill Buscho and J. J. Silva, Rotary Club stages the Christmas Parties each year which are the highlight of the holiday season. Christmas parties for Los Banos youngsters go back a good many years to when the Rotary Club first visited the schools and distributed candy to pupils in each of the rooms.
Mrs. Silva said each show will last approximately one hour. Members of her theatre staff will be on hand to aid in the direction of both parties.
