Eagle Scouts to Be Honored
A group of six or seven Boy Scouts of the West Side will receive Scouting's highest award—the badge of an Eagle Scout—at an inter-community observance to be held in Los Banos Saturday, November 24. all of Los Banos service organizations – Rotary, Lions, 20-30, Junior Chamber of Commerce and Knights of Columbus—are joining together in the presentation of the event, and attendance from the eight west side communities is anticipated at well over 500 persons.
Frank Orr, Los Banos electrician, is general chairman of the event, and Bud Lee, Scout Executive serving the west side, is serving as coordinator. Scout leaders and officials from each of the participating communities are also cooperating and each will have an important part in the presentation.
Charles Kaljian, Los Banos auto dealer, has been named in charge of ticket sales, and Joe R. Coehlo, District Fire Chief for Merced County's west side, will be in charge of the dinner. The dinner will be priced at a very nominal cost, intended to merely make the event self-supporting.
Participating communities include Westley, Patterson, Crows Landing, Newman, Gustine, Los Banos, Dos Palos "Y" and Dos Palos.
