F.B.I. Agent Is Rotary Speaker
Robert Pettyjohn, Federal Bureau of Investigation agent stationed in Visalia, Tuesday noon gave members of the Los Banos Rotary Club an insight into some of the jobs and investigative work that comes within the Bureau's jurisdiction.
Emphasizing the tenacity with which the Bureau pursues the persons on their "wanted" list, Pettyjohn related a case he had closed Tuesday morning in which he and a fellow officer apprehended a World War II Army deserter. Though the case was purely routine, the "wanted" file had never been closed and the man was finally located through information obtained from a relative.
Pettyjohn described the Bureau's functions as of two primary departments, security and criminal. Of the latter he said the most interesting and generally most rewarding section is the laboratory technicians who are able to weave complete criminal stories from the merest bits of evidence.
The speaker was introduced by Abel P. Machado, local insurance man.
