New Governor Of Rotary District
Dean S. Lesher, publisher of the Merced Sun-Star, has been chosen Governor of Rotary District No. 522, comprising 38 Rotary Clubs in the Stockton-Fresno-Monterey area. He will succeed Horace L. Dormody, M.D., of Monterey.
Lesher was actively recommended for the position by his home Rotary Club in Merced, and by the Los Banos, Dos Palos, Gustine and other clubs in this area. His nomination was later approved at a valley conference held in Fresno. With his nomination, there were no other announced candidates for the office and his election was automatic as of the nominating deadline Dec. 31.
Lesher will assume the governorship duties as of the Rotary fiscal year beginning July 1. However, he will address a Rotary district conference to be held at Sonora on February 6, 7, and 8, reporting on a trip he is now making through parts of Russia and her satellite countries.
Lesher was president of the Merced Rotary Club in 1951-52, and has served on numerous club committees. He has attended four international conventions, four district conferences and eight district assemblies.
