Peluso Booted Out As Rotary President
Frank Peluso, who has headed the local Rotary Club as president for the past year, got booted out of office the hard way at the club luncheon Tuesday noon, immediately after he had turned over the gavel to the new president. Kenneth Anderson, and had taken a few moments to express his appreciation to the club members for their cooperation through the year.
In a carefully planned program that was a complete surprise to Peluso, a "common-man" committee of Rotarians, headed by Paul Benz, took Peluso to task on a number of trumped-up charges, organized a common court with Atty. Jess Telles as "persecutor" and ordered the defendant "thrown to the Lions." While Peluso was still trying to figure out if the boys were playing a prank or were dead serious, a bunch of past presidents took over, welcomed him into their select group of "P.P.s" and affirmed their belief that he should be permitted to continue as a regular member.
After rather discouraging physical and mental examinations by club member Dr. Leo Lymp, in which it was concluded the subject had passed into the great beyond, the program concluded with a mock memorial service, in which club members tip-toad softly passed the prone, flower-bedecked body of the extinct president, to drop flowers, souvenirs (and table scraps) on the chest of the departed. The carcass was then hoisted aboard a truck and paraded about town that all might see what happens to a Rotary president after 12 months of devoted service to his job.
