Ralph Milliken Is Rotary Speaker
Ralph Milliken, Local walnut and apricot grower who spent the first half of the year touring Europe, was guest speaker at the Rotary Club luncheon Tuesday noon. He gave an interesting resume of his trip, from the time he left San Francisco aboard a combined freight-passenger ship, down the west coast of America, through the Panama Canal, along the northern South American coast and across to Genoa, Italy.
Leisurely sight-seeing much of the country northward through Italy, into Switzerland, France and finally to England, Milliken told most interestingly of the many places he had seen, the people, customs and particularly, of his stay in Rome, his audience with the Pope and attendance at Easter services in St. Peter's Cathedral.
After four weeks in England, Milliken returned to the States via plane, and across the continent by train.
President Wm. Woo announced that the regular noon meeting of the club would be postponed next Tuesday for an evening dinner meeting on the same day. The occasion is the annual football banquet, when the Rotary fetes the squad of the Los Banos high school football team. The dinner will be at the Los Banos elementary school cafeteria, time 7:00 p.m.
