Los Banos Rotary Club History
Rotarians On Tour At Castle Air Base

Several members of the Los Banos Rotary Club joined Atwater and Livingston Rotarians Thursday of last week in a tour and luncheon of Castle Air Force Base. Attending from Los Banos were Pat Mastro, Ed Evans, Bert Wilson, Rev. Sherwood Daily, Abel Machado, Rocco Pernetti, Leonard Clover, John B. Machado and Edmund Enos. Also as guests from Los Banos were Mims Lee, Methodist Church field representative who is now working in Los Banos, and Jack Hale of the local Bank of America staff.

The group first had luncheon at the Officers' Club, then saw the new KC135 jet tanker and were given a complete escorted tour of a B52 bomber, from pilot's compartment to the year gunner's deck. Later they were shown the new F86 Sabre Jets and watched members of the 436th Fighter Squadron in a practice "scramble" in which the lightning-fast attack planes were air borne within 3 ½ minutes after the sounding of a practice alert.

About 100 Rotarians from the three cities were included in the tour of the base.
