Rotarians Relax
It was play day at the Rotary Club Tuesday noon, with nothing more important to do than eat, sing and be merry. Enchiladas and Spanish beans, topped off with apple pie and cheese composed the repast.
The singing started with program chairman Frank Peluso called on a few visitors. Mayor John Erreca and W. T. Thomas of Los Banos, Al Sapiro and Bob Hume of Dos Palos, and W. C. Anderson, a Ford Motor Co. executive of Richmond, to do a rendition of Jingle Bells. Even the mayor got the time and jingled his way through the first verse and chorus.
Mike Dambrosio, with inimitable feeling and gusto, led the group singing of Christmas carols, and Judge Germino briefly took the baton to lead another rendition by a special sextet.
President Louie Castellucci took advantage of the general jovial atmosphere to suggest a substantial collection with which to purchase gifts and candy for needy families in this area, and then replenished the club treasury to a substantial extent for real and imaginary wrongful conduct by the membership.
Frank Peluso announced a new procedure in club programs for next Tuesday with two members, City Clerk Mike Dambrosio and George W. Nickel Jr., to debate the merits and objections of the proposed wildlife refuge and public shooting grounds that the state purposes to develop in this area.
