Rotarians See Azores Film
Motion picture of the Azores Island, was the program feature at the Rotary Club luncheon Tuesday noon. The films, showing architectural and landscape views of the islands and personalities, also included scenes of the unusual volcano that came into being last summer a short distance off shore. The films were taken by the Joe Fialho family while vacationing there last summer and were presented to the club by program chairman Jack Duarte.
Kenneth Reid, manager of the Los Banos Bank of America, was officially introduced and welcomed into the club as a member by W. H. Sloan. Reid, a native of Merced, has been with the Bank of America for 32 years, starting in his home town as a teller. Most of his experience has been with the bank's Tulare and Visalia branches.
Dr. L. R. Hillyer, club member who with his wife has just returned from a Pacific cruise on the Matson Co.'s SS Monterey, reported very briefly on the trip, which included stops in Australia, New Zealand, Samoa Fiji and Tahiti. Enroute home, he said, he was called upon to do an emergency abdominal operation on a lady passenger, an experience which he said will be long remembered.
