Rotary Club In Queen Contest

Added zest to the May Day Queen Contest was evidenced this week as the Los Banos Rotary Club accepted a challenge issued by the Dos Palos Rotary Club for an inter-club dinner some time after May Day, the cost to be borne by the club whose hometown girl fails to win the coveted post of May Day Queen. In event the Gustine, Livingston or Merced candidate wins the Dos Palos-Los Banos Rotary gangs will meet anyway and share a common crying towel.
Five of the contest entrants were guests of the local club Tuesday, and were introduced by George Nickel Jr., who is chairman of the contest.
Miss Beth Germino, who last week won a student speakers' contest sponsored by the Lions Club, was also a guest at the luncheon, and presented her address, which was on the subject "The United Nations – Safeguard of Human Liberty." The talk, excellently presented and obviously the result of considerable thinking and research, was well received by the group, and Miss Germino was accorded an enthusiastic round of applause.
The club program was concluded with the showing of an educational motion picture "In Balance," furnished through courtesy of the Burroughs Adding Machine Company.
