Los Banos Rotary Club History
Senator Donnelly Is Speaker Here

State, Senator Hugh Donnelly, of Turlock, addressed members of the Los Banos Rotary Club Tuesday noon on general affairs of our state and nation, with particular emphasis on the increasing dangers that threaten our national sovereignty.

As an example of the danger that threatens, he pointed out to "The California Plan," a resolution to provide a world wide super government, which was several years ago approved by the California assembly and senate, and submitted to other states for their consideration before the full import of the consequences was generally realized. Donnelly said he, with the close cooperation and assistance of the veteran's organizations, eventually were able to repeal the resolution.

The second most serious threat to our national sovereignty, senator Donnelly pointed out, is the treaty-making powers of our government and the ease with our personal liberties may be taken away by such treaties.
In conclusion he urged that all persons and all groups be eternally aware of individuals and organizations that come with pleas for support of this and that fantastic scheme or dreamy plan which they say is the cure-all for the world's Ills.

The speaker was introduced by his personal friend, Manuel Calderon, local dry cleaner.

Ed Smith, general chairman of the blood Bank program, took several moments at the luncheon to emphasize the importance of the Blood Bank program and too urge Rotarians who were physically able to make their patriotic contribution. He also urged that they grant employees the half hour or so of time required so they too could make their contribution.
