Theatre Parties Set For Children Of Los Banos Area; 1,400 Expected

A good time is in store for children of the Los Banos area of two big Christmas theatre parties to be given Tuesday under the joint auspices of the Rotary and Lions Clubs, the Fresno Bee and local theatre.

Approximately 1400 boys and girls are expected to flock to the Del Rio theatre. Because of the anticipated large attendance, the first party will be given at 10:30 a.m. for children in the rural areas. Theatre doors will open at 10 a.m. and the show and festivities will last until noon.

The afternoon party for residential children will be given at 1:30 p.m. with doors opening at 1 p.m. and will be concluded at 3 p.m. Tickets designate the time to attend, and sponsors are asking rural children to attend the morning show as less inconvenience to their parents.

As in past years, the Christmas party will be given in the Del Rio. Theatre with the manager, Mrs. Frank (Bennie) Silva, providing the theatre and staff. She promises a show filled with laughs including cartoons and other films suitable for the Christmas season. The show will last 1 ½ hours. The Fresno Bee is furnishing the films and one stick of candy for each of the kiddies.
Santa Claus will be on hand (so will Kelly Bambauer) to pass out a Christmas sock well filled with Yule candy of premium quality which has been provided by Rotarians and Lions.

Committee workers have asked parents to meet their children following both shows. Ten members of the Lions and Rotary Clubs will be on hand to assist at both parties. C. W. Bates and Joe Vajretti are chairmen for the Rotary and Lions Clubs, respectively. They have extended their hearty thanks to Mrs. Silva and her staff for their excellent cooperation.

These two service clubs annually cooperate in the Christmas theatre party and give generous treats to the children. Christmas parties for the Los Banos children go back a good many years when the Rotary Club first visited the schools and distributed candy in each of the rooms. When the party was first given at the theatre, the Lions Club gave their assistance.
