Trap Shoot Is Scheduled
The Lions and Rotary Clubs 25-man trap shooting teams will compete in a shoot Sunday at the Sportsmen's Assn. grounds for a new trophy. Bob Puccinelli is captain of the Rotary team and Jim Soper heads the Lions.
There will be games and entertainment for those who do not wish to shoot and one trap will be open to the public for practice and after the competitive shooting. The lunch room will be open and Chef Joe Ebner will serve his usual good lunches. An effort is being made to get some homemade tamales from Hollister. Some 45 teams were left over from the shoot two weeks ago and all present may shoot for these if they so desire.
The Lions have won two previous shoots from the Rotarians and now claim permanent possession of the trophy awarded in previous years. Informed sources say that the Lions practice trap shooting more than the Rotarians, but some Rotarians claim to have shot more ducks and other game than the Lions ever saw. It should be an interesting match.
In the Sunday shoot the teams will shoot in squads of five. Each man will get a chance to break 50 blue rocks and all scores will be totaled to determine the winning team.
Both teams hope to have rooting sections of their families and friends, but if this proves boring the Sportsmen's Assn. pheasant raising and show pens are now open for exhibition. Types of birds on display are Chinese, Mongolian, Reeves and Golden pheasant and quail.
