tour new elementary school

It was the first and probably the last time a meal will be served in the library
at Lorena Falasco School.
But for members of the Los Baños Rotary
Club, lunch in the book repository Tuesday marked the starting point for tours
of the new elementary school on Overland Avenue.
Leading the tours of
the first new elementary school built in the district since R.M. Miano Elementary
was finished in 1964 were the school’s principal Jane Brittell and its vice
principal Jennifer Villalobos.
According to District Superintendent
Paul Alderete, the school is being built on schedule and below budget.
Construction at the 10-acre site began in late March 2003. originally budgeted
at $14.8 million, the school, when completed, will cost significantly less than
that Alderete said. Since funding for the new school came entirely from state
bond proceeds, the money remaining
