Los
Banos Rotary Club History
Water Pollution
Film at Rotary
The Rotary Club Tuesday noon was
provided by Cliff Adkins of the Merced County Mosquito Abatement District, with
a kodochrome film, “Clean Waters,” which graphically showed the damage
and annual loss of property that occurs in the United States because of the practice
of municipalities throughout the country of dumping raw sewage into streams, rivers
and oceans. The educational film was especially appropriate for Los Banos inasmuch
as our own municipal disposal is far below public health standards set by the
state.
With two perfect attendance meetings in a row, Dr. Leo Lymp continued
this week as custodian of the Rotary Rabbitry—which, incidentally, has been
reduced to one lone bunny since they were placed in Dr. Lymp’s care. Rotary
directors, alarmed at the 50 per cent death rate, are in a huddle this week trying
to evolve some plan whereby the rabbitry might be assured of more expert care.
At the luncheon, President R. Lindemann presented Fred Lorensen with
a Rotary lapel button indicating three years perfect attendance.
